SSS Scholarship


Launch of SSS Scholarship Press Release 29 January 2010


The Serangoon Alumni ('SA') and the School Advisory Committee ('SAC') for Serangoon Secondary School ('SSS' or 'the School'), also formerly known as Serangoon English School ('SES), together with the School are launching the SSS Scholarship Scheme on 29 January 2010.

The aim of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to graduating students of the School, who are eligible to pursue further studies in the JCs or Polytechnics. The Scholarship shall be awarded based on merit and subject to the recommendation of the School and to be decided jointly by the representatives from the SA, SAC and the School.

Each student, who chooses to study in a JC will get $1,000.00 annually for two years to offset the school fees, books and other miscellaneous expenses. The recipient of an award for study in a Polytechnic will get $1,500.00 annually for three years to offset tuition fees and other miscellaneous expenses.

Application for the SSS Scholarship is open to graduating students of SSS, who have achieved good academic results in the GCE "O" Level Examination and have been active in co-curricular activities.

Scholarship Awards


The M.N. CAMPOS Scholarship

The M.N. Campos Scholarship is sponsored by Mr. Richard Gomez who attended Serangoon English School from 1946 to 1956. He set up this scholarship to honour his Mathematics teacher, Mr Campos who had made a significant impact on the lives of his students. Mr Campos was a caring teacher whose mission in life was to motivate and help others. He was a role model for his students and all who knew him.
The value of Scholarship is $500 given over a period of 2 years.

The N.I. LOW Scholarship

The N.I.Low Scholarship is sponsored by Mr. Richard Gomez, who was a student of Serangoon English School from 1946 to 1956. This scholarship was set up to honour his Principal, Mr N. I. Low, who had transformed many students into career-minded individuals, ready to take on the challenges of life. His mission in life was to motivate students to be humble and good to others.
The value of Scholarship is $500 given over a period of 2 years.
