Direct School Admission


Serangoon Secondary School launched its Learning for Life Programme - “Project Ablaze: Harnessing Youth Leadership in the Service of Community” - in the year 2014. Students are able to apply for Direct School Admission - Secondary (DSA-Sec) into our school through this programme.

Application for DSA through the Learning for Life Programme (Community and Youth Leadership) is opened from 08 May 2017.

General Descriptors of Potential DSA applicants

·         Outward-looking, with awareness of, and concern for, community needs

·         Are/have strong potential to be influential, with strong communication and people skills

  • Demonstrate leadership skills

Applicants should meet all Admission Criteria listed below.

(I)            Application and Selection Stage

Direct School Admission (DSA) application form may be downloaded from the school’s website or collected from our school’s general office during the application period.

(II)          Admission Criteria

Students who intend to apply for direct admission into our school‘s Learning for Life Programme must satisfy the following criteria:

1.    CCA Participation

Applicants must be involved in at least one CCA in Primary school

Record of active participation in CCA in Primary School for at least 3 years.

2.    Leadership

Applicants with leadership position in Primary school

Has held Leadership position(s) in class/level /CCA/school

3.    Contribution to Community

Applicants with good track of service to the community in at least one of the following:

a.    Has participated actively in community service activities (beyond minimum requirements) as a result of passion to serve the community

b.    Exemplary service to school in environment conservation efforts

c.    Exemplary service to others in the school community

d.    Initiated and led a meaningful project for the class/level/CCA/school so as to improve the class/level/CCA/school

e.    Other suitable involvement

4.    Selection Interview

Applicants to be shortlisted for the interview

Clear the selection interview

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.

LETTERS ON OUTCOME OF SELECTION WILL BE ISSUED TO ALL DSA APPLICANTS BY 31 Aug 2017

All applicants are to submit the original application form together with relevant supporting documents before 31 Aug 2017 to Serangoon Secondary School,  11 Upper Serangoon View, Singapore 534237.
